OK it's a bit of a mixture but then what poet's output isn't? However, there are many gems in this collection (many have been picked up by composers and turned into songs so the lyric quality of many leaps out). In fact RLS's poetry must be some of the most under appreciated in the English language. The collection is suffused with that sinewy Victorian almost Spartan view of the world. Yet tender at times and emotionally mature too.Product details
